Dylan Neely is a composer and violinist who lives in New York. He's performed at venues including The Museum of the Moving Image, Issue Project Room, Symphony Space, Lincoln Center, The Stone, MoMA PS1, and La MaMa, as well as at a geodesic dome in Copenhagen, a meadow on Mount Tamalpais, and a squat in Zagreb.
Dylan has worked in the music department on films and TV series including "Mozart in the Jungle", "I, Tonya", "Jane Fonda in Five Acts", "Everybody Knows Elizabeth Murray", and "Demolition." He's scored projects including the feature film "18 To Party" and the video documentary "Inside the Archives of Jesse Alexander". In his film music, he often explores ambience through unusual instrumentation and custom-developed music software, but also loves writing thematically for conventional ensembles. His film music is available through Naxos Licensing.
Dylan performs regularly with Fan Letters, an interactive audiovisual collaboration with the video artist Alex Nathanson. They are developing Autocomplete, a dystopian opera, in collaboration with the dance company The Median Movement. Dylan received a B.A. from Bard College at Simon's Rock, and an M.F.A. in electronic music at Mills College, where he studied with Zeena Parkins, Roscoe Mitchell, and Fred Frith. He's completed additional studies at the Belgrade Conservatory while on a Fulbright Fellowship to Serbia, as well as at Juilliard (with Conrad Cummings). Past festivals and residencies include Watermill Center (water mill ny), Flux Factory (queens ny), highSCORE (pavia italy), and SiMN (curitiba brazil).
